Better solution needed to control weeds along tracks

The following letter to the editor appeared in the Sept 13 edition of the Guelph Mercury:

One has to wonder why letter writer Sandra Solomon, from Puslinch is defending the use of pesticides along tge Guelph Junction Railway tracks. Perhaps she is unaware that the Trans-Canada Trail is being constructed adjacent to these tracks, which will be used daily and all year by people of all ages—including children.

But perhaps she is also not aware of a recent article in Mother Earth News magazine on the dangers of Roundup. I would urge everyone to read the article at: motherearthnews.com and search “Roundup kills more than weeds.”

I applaud Lynn Chidwick and council members Vicki Beard and Ian Findlay for efforts to come up with a better solution.    MD
