Our public parks are an embarassment!
I can’t begin to tell you how distressed and upset at how our civic leaders, staff, and the Operations department have allowed our beautiful parks and green spaces to turn into what can be best described as “cow pastures”. The ten day cutting policy you mention in your memo to city council is, frankly, a […]
Weeds in Guelph a growing concern
I read with interest the article in the Guelph Mercury last evening (May 30)regarding the dissatifaction and complaints regarding the Parks in the City. I can tell you that I was disappointed with Riverside Park on Monday when my daughter and little grandsons went there for a picnic . Not only was the grass ankle […]

The MOE responded by sending letters to municipalities suggesting that municipalities uncertain about lead levels in homes undertake tests at the tap in older […]
Guelph expands lead testing.
Guelph’s drinking water has little naturally-occurring lead, remains safe, and continues to surpass stringent standards imposed by the MOE. The City of Guelph will take part in a Ministry of the Environment (MOE)-ordered sampling program involving 36 Ontario municipalities that’s intended to provide the Province with consistent lead-sampling data.
Supporting the By-law on Pesticides
I am writing to support a pesticide by-law that bans the use of synthetic pesticides (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides) for the following reasons. These products are remedies for unsustainable gardening practices: our society has become addicted to lawns that require water and fertilizer (and regular mowing).
70 Waverley Road Application Feedback
I was disappointed to read about your decision concerning Windsor Park. However, now that the decision has been made, Windsor Park should be the focus for redevelopment. To my mind, the Guelph Country Club has certainly come out ahead. To satisfy my curiosity, do you know if it was the City who initiated the redevelopment […]
