Guelph Urban Forest Friends (GUFF) has reviewed the proposal to trade a .74 acre naturalized area of Windsor Park to the Guelph Country Club. There is a strong case to be made that this proposal should be rejected.

70 Waverley Drive Proposed Zoning Amendment
I acknowledge that this comment comes late in the process of review of this planning item. I learned about the application on May 2nd. 2007. I outline below several aspects of the proposed project that I see require considerably more attention before the application is ready for decision by City Council.

I am writing in response to your request for comment on the proposed rezoning of the lands fronting on Waverly Drive and bordered by the Guelph County Club Golf course, in your letter dated Nov 29th, 2006, titled; An application for zoning bylaw amendment.
Community Support for the CEP
Guelph City Council unanimously approved the Community Energy Plan (CEP) at the April 23, 2007 council meeting(see City of Guelph Community Energy Plan Final Report on this site for full details of the plan). This is an ambitious plan to reduce Guelph’s overall energy consumption, source local energy solutions and make Guelph a world leader in sustainability.
