Cloudy water near River Run Centre all cleared up

Press release.

Yesterday, a City of Guelph Environmental Protection Officer investigated a report of cloudy water in the Speed River near the River Run Centre in downtown Guelph.

The cloudy water was caused by water and silt being discharged from a storm outfall connected to the East Parkade. The contractor working on repairs to the East Parkade stopped discharging water, and the incident was reported to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.

The silt has settled and is not moving downstream, and no cleanup or remediation is required. The contractor will resume repairs on the East Parkade and any further water discharge will be directed to the City’s sanitary sewer system.
