College Avenue repaving begins Wednesday

Press release.

Traffic on College Avenue West, from Janefield Avenue to Edinburgh Road South, will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Wednesday, July 2.

As part of its Annual Asphalt Program, the City will repave College Avenue West. The proposed work includes concrete curb repairs, replacement of asphalt paving, and a new roadway configuration.

“College Avenue is an arterial roadway as per the City’s
Official Plan
. It will be restriped as a three-lane arterial road, with a centre turn-lane, two lanes of traffic, and two bicycle lanes,” explains Jennifer Juste, transportation demand management coordinator, Engineering Services. “The addition of bicycle lanes is consistent ith the Bicycle Policy and the Cycling Master Plan, and will complete the bike route along College Avenue
.”

The repaving of College Avenue West is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete , weather permitting.

Two-way traffic will be maintained during construction, but delays can be expected. Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways, but temporary delays for construction operations and equipment movement may occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The City of Guelph appreciates residents’ patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction work, and
