Five-day Wellington Street closure starts September 15

Press release.

Wellington Street, between Gordon Street and Edinburgh Road, will be closed to all traffic for approximately five days starting on September 15, weather permitting.

The closure will allow for necessary construction and roadway crossings for the York Trunk Sewer and Paisley Clythe watermain  project . Once the watermain crossing is complete, Wellington Street will reopen to westbound traffic.

Wellington Street will remain closed to eastbound traffic until the project is complete in November, weather permitting.

“Signed detours will be in place to guide people around the closure,” explained Majde Qaqish, project engineer. “We understand this closure is an inconvenience and we’re working to restore two-way traffic by November.”

The City of Guelph appreciates residents’ patience and co-operation during this important infrastructure project, and will post updates on guelph.ca/construction
