Guelph Wellbeing to focus on food, connectivity and housing

Press release.

The community is invited to attend the Community and Social Services Committee meeting at City Hall on Tuesday, May 13 to learn about progress and next steps regarding Guelph Wellbeing (formerly the Community Wellbeing Initiative).
Drawing on the learning of the Engagement Findings Report and Community Profile, as well as findings from the eight Design Team Workshops held last year, Guelph Wellbeing has identified three key themes of wellbeing: food, connectivity and housing. These themes draw on the eight domains from the Canadian Index of Wellbeing.
The City of Guelph is working collaboratively with existing community organizations to help advance our shared vision of working together for the best possible quality of life. The City is helping to promote a common agenda, engage the community, measure progress and support implementation.
“By having a shared vision and focus, our residents will benefit from the collective impact of community programs that support Guelph Wellbeing,” explains Barbara Powell, general manager of Community Engagement and Social Services at the City of Guelph. “To be efficient and effective,” she adds, “we need to work together to bring about positive change.”
Guelph Wellbeing is a catalyst for cross-functional community partnerships and the project is attracting local, national and international attention.
The presentation will be delivered by members of the Guelph Wellbeing Leadership Group: Chief Bryan Larkin, Guelph Police Service, Ross Kirkconnell, executive director, Guelph Family Health Team and Rita Sethi, director of Community Health, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health; as well as Barbara Powell, general manager Community Engagement and Social Services, City of Guelph.
