Increased rainfall moves Outside Water Use back to Level 0 Blue

Watering restrictions still in effect

Guelph, ON, June 18, 2015—The City of Guelph is downgrading the Outside Water Use Program to Level 0 Blue following a consultation with the Grand River Conservation Authority. At Level 0 Blue, lawn watering is restricted to 7-9 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. on odd or even dates by address number—odd numbered houses are permitted to water on odd numbered calendar dates, and even numbered houses on even dates.

“Over the last three weeks, the amount of rainfall we’ve experienced has brought us back in line with long-term, seasonal rain averages, and has helped return river flows to normal conditions for this time of year,” said Wayne Galliher, Manager of Technical Services for City of Guelph Water Services. “Watering restrictions remain in effect in Level 0 Blue and we ask everyone to continue using water wisely.”

In Level 0 Blue, outside water use restrictions are enforced with a focus on education first.

The City, in consultation with the Grand River Conservation Authority, will continue to monitor drought indicators throughout the season to determine the need for future level changes in the Outside Water Use Program.
