In response to a school visit earlier today.
Hi Ian,
I wanted to thank you again for talking to both my classes today. Once again, they were great discussions and I think the kids got the sense that you take their concerns seriously. That is so valuable when we are trying to make sure they aren’t cynical about the potential of government to make positive changes.
You also echoed our course theme (get informed and then involved) when you mentioned how you got involved in politics and you also took advantage of teachable moments when talking about dealing with difficult people and about the graffiti at the mosque on Water Street. I couldn’t have asked for a better guest speaker to reinforce some of the big ideas in Civics.
