Laura Baily succumbs to illness

City Councillor Laura Baily passed away peacefully over this past weekend. She was known for her dedication to her family, friends and community.

On behalf of Guelph City Council and City of Guelph staff, Mayor Karen Farbridge extends her sympathies to the family of Councillor Laura Baily.

“Councillor Baily served her Ward constituents with passion, though her commitment to Guelph extended beyond Ward boundaries,” says Mayor Farbridge. “She was tireless in her efforts to make Guelph the very best city in which to live, and she displayed an unmistakable pride in her community. Her dedication was evident in her service on the Board of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Guelph Police Service, MacDonald Stewart Art Centre, the Eastview Public Liaison Committee, and Guelph Junction Railway.

On behalf of Councillor Baily’s colleagues on City Council and City of Guelph employees, I extend our deepest sympathy to Laura’s family. She will be remembered for her devotion to her community, as a respected colleague, and a friend.”
