The Mayor’s Awards recognize Guelph’s “difference makers” – people from all walks of life who are making outstanding contributions as community builders, volunteers, visionaries, or leaders.

Previous winners have made a difference in many facets of community life, including the arts and culture sector; environment; health, mental health, and wellbeing; multiculturalism; charitable fundraising; and sports and recreation, among others. Biographies of honourees from 2001 to 2013 can be found on the sidebar at

The Mayor’s Awards are presented at the

Guelph Awards of Excellence

gala in June. Hosted by the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, the gala is Guelph’s premier appreciation event where the city’s exceptional individuals and businesses are celebrated.

“Recognizing outstanding members of our community is one of the great privileges of being mayor,” said Mayor Farbridge. “I am always inspired and impressed by the many ways people are making a difference, often without a lot of fanfare.”

2014 marks the 18th year of the Mayor’s Awards in Guelph.
