resident's "pay it forward" adopt-a-stop

A lovely story about a resident’s efforts to make a difference in her community.

I shovel the bus stop for three reasons: one, it’s just the right thing to do. Two: many students use this stop and I’m hoping that they’ll learn from a good example. And three is a little funny: I’ve stuck the odd playful note onto the bus stop sign post asking riders to please take their garbage with them instead of leaving it behind. So last winter, the note read that we’d make a deal in which I would shovel the stop for them if they would refrain from leaving their trash behind. And the happy ending is that whenever a note goes up, amazingly the garbage stops immediately (and no one purposely dumps a pile on our lawn either just for spite)! There is still hope! : ) JW
