The Future of the O/R Lands

The City of Guelph has a once in a lifetime opportunity with the availability of the O/R lands on York Road for redevelopment.

The Province of Ontario wishes to work with the City to determine the best uses for these lands. The Chamber of Commerce has expressed an interest in these lands being used for employment opportunities. The University of Guelph will no doubt be looking for research possibilities. Conestoga College needs a new campus. There is strong demand to protect the unique naturalized places and river valley from urban encroachment.

The York District Study Process will be on the agenda for the March 23 meeting of the Community Design and Environmental Services Committee.

Mr. J. David McAuley, a resident of ward 2, has provided some comments on the planning consultant’s presentation on February 1, 2007.  Please see below.
