Woodlawn Road bridge closed August 11-22

The Woodlawn Road bridge between Woolwich Street and Victoria Road will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, August 11 at 9 a.m., for approximately two weeks.

As part of the City’s Annual Asphalt Program, the bridge on Woodlawn Road, will close to facilitate the replacement of the bridge deck. The bridge is expected to reopen on August, 22 at 6 p.m., weather permitting.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure. Drivers and cyclists are advised to follow signed detours or, if possible, avoid the area.

A signed detour using Victoria Road, Speedvale Avenue and Woolwich Street will be in place to direct motorists around this closure.

“Emergency vehicles will use the designated detour, and local access will be permitted up to the closure area,” explained Grant Ferguson, project manager, Engineering Services. “We ask motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to be aware of their surroundings and to proceed cautiously when approaching construction zones throughout the city.”
