Snow storm….December 19, 2008

Yes it’s me again……before you all start cursing….I DIDN’T ORDER THIS STUFF!!

I would like to convey to you the serious nature of this storm event in that it will be coming in strong and furious…with quick accumulations, high winds and severe wind chill values…….….below is the weather statement for your information. Please be aware that staff is working hard to maintain public mobility.
Operations Road staff are out keeping the roads in a useable state….extreme care and caution should always be taken wheher walking or driving. Mechanical sidewalk and manual step clearing operations will follow.

The storm is expected to deliver the majority of its volume by 3;00pm today. They are currently forecasting 1 inch per hour till 3:00pm when we will have 6 inches on the ground. That translates to 15 cm.
If this volume materializes we anticipate a full plowout to occur in the residential streets. Our threshold accululation in that respect is currently at 8cm accumulation.

I will update you later today on the winter control activities of the department. Until then and for the duration of the storm……please drive and walk with care…. Staff
