Building/Dance brings two Canadian cultural leaders to Guelph

River Run presents Building/Dance, a special free-admission event featuring celebrated Canadian dancer and choreographer Laurence Lemieux and internationally renowned architect Donald Schmitt on Sunday, March 9th, 2014, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the Cooperators Hall.
Laurence Lemieux of Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie and Donald Schmitt of Diamond Schmitt Architects will share their engaging and personal story of how a design project led to the creation of a flourishing community cultural hub, and inspired a unique choreographic collaboration.

“Building/Dance is ultimately a story of building community,” says Ella Pauls, manager of Cultural Development for the City of Guelph. Building/Dance is also a behind-the-scenes peak into the making of
Dichterliebe: The Poet’s Love – a work inspired by Schumann’s songcycle
that will be performed at River Run Centre by Laurence Lemieux on Saturday, March 29th at 8 pm. Dichterliebe includes a short piece choreographed by Donald Schmitt.

Admission to Building/Dance is free, however, registration is required as seating is limited. To register for this event, send an email by March 7th to [email protected] giving your name and the number of people wishing to attend.
This program is made possible
