It has been 5 ½ long years since the fateful fire on Easter weekend in 2007 which partially destroyed the 3 buildings on Douglas Street.
I am pleased to report that we granted partial occupancy yesterday at what is now known as 5 Douglas Street. Skyline has relocated their main office to the 3rd floor of this building. Over the coming weeks, the restaurant on the main floor and the residential suites on the upper floors will also be occupied.
This has been a very complicated project and has involved numerous City staff throughout its redevelopment. If you have the opportunity to visit this building, I’m sure you will be impressed with the blending of the historical features of the 3 former building facades & interior stone walls with what is now a multi-use virtually new building in the downtown core.Staff
