#7. Eastview Pollinator Park. What to do with a former garbage dump?
In February, City staff and a group called Pollinator Guelph presented a plan for the establishment of a Pollinator Park on the old Eastview Landfill site.
Councillor Beard, who volunteers with Pollinator Guelph has been advocating for pollinators since being elected to Council in 2006. She can be often heard at Council saying “one third of the food we eat – fruits, vegetables, grains and seeds – comes from plants that need pollinators to survive”.
The pollinator park is the first of it’s kind in North America and has received international attention.
