Adobe Varsity Living Official Plan Amendment-Gordon & Stone

We are unhappy about the proposed development at the corner of Stone Road & Gordon Street by Adobe Varsity Living. We attended a “Neighbourhood Open House” at the University of Guelph on November 18th, 2010. We object to the high density nature of this proposal with 16 and 14 story buildings that will dwarf any of the surrounding buildings.

The University of Guelph buildings and those along Stone Road and Gordon streets are humane in size and height. What an eyesore this proposal would create situated next to a residential community.

This development would disrupt our way of life to have 1500 student living on our doorstep. It would add to traffic and pedestrian congestion at an already busy intersection; it would devalue the price of our homes; it would cause us to sell our home before construction begins and move somewhere else.

We urge Guelph City Council to deny this proposed amendment to permit ‘High Density Residential’ to a maximum density of 200 units per hectare.  JH
