City Launches RBC Market Day Skates

Lace up and join us on Saturday, December 15, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., for the first of four RBC Market Day Skates this winter. The opening event features festive music, free hot chocolate and cookies and seasonal crafts. As an added treat, the Downtown’s annual free trolley rides will make stops at Market Square. In the case of inclement weather, festivities will be held indoors in the Galleria at City Hall.

“We’re thrilled to support a series of special family-friendly skates this winter”, says Laurie Davidson, RBC Royal Bank, Regional Vice President, Guelph North Halton. “The rink in Market Square has been an unprecedented success since its opening, and with RBC’s sponsorship support, we hope to encourage even more families to take advantage of this marvellous public gathering space.”

“We’re beginning to develop special daytime and evening programs throughout the winter to animate Market Square,” say’s Colleen Clack, general manager of Culture and Tourism for the City of Guelph. “We had a fantastic turnout for the opening of the rink last Friday and look forward to drawing hundreds of people downtown for our upcoming events.”
