Sharpen your skates and get ready for an evening of ‘beats and blades’ on
Saturday, December 22, 2012, from 6 to 10 pm. The City of Guelph has teamed up with KDub.ca to present a series of Shake-n-Skate events at Guelph’s Market Square, featuring electronic music by local DJs.
“We’re all about getting people out to meet other like-minded individuals, who just want to have fun trying something different,” says KDub.ca organizer Barry Rooke. “Our music is provided by local DJs and highlights a diversity of sounds – from House, Funk, Disco and Electro to Trance and Hip-Hop. We strive to introduce new sounds that appeal to skaters of all ages.”
Shake-n-Skate is the brain-child of KDub.ca
, a community building organization serving the Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph area. Known for its spirited antics, KDub.ca has organized events such as
International Pillow Fight Day KW, Waterloo Zombie Walk and for the past 3 years, Shake-n-Skate in Uptown Waterloo. Now the family-friendly, music oriented skating party is making its way to Guelph and Market Square for three Saturday nights this winter.
“The Shake-n-Skate parties offer a perfect opportunity for young people to get together with friends on the weekend to dance the night away – on blades, of course,” says Colleen Clack, general manager of Culture and Tourism for the City of Guelph.

The skating rink is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm, weather permitting. The washrooms and changing area in the pavilion building are open daily from 9 am to 10 pm.
