29 Feb Winter Control UPDATE

The sun is shining and our roads are dry…for now. Our detailed weather forecasts are calling for a mix of snow, up to 5 cm and the possibility of freezing rain in the next 24 hours. The majority of snow is expected to fall during rush hour tomorrow morning followed immediately by freezing rain. As the roads are dry right now, the conditions are excellent for application of the anti-icing material (salt brine) on high priority routes and known trouble areas. In anticipation of the precipitation, the Winter Control team began application of the salt brine this morning.

Your Public Works Department staff and equipment are prepared to respond and will be clearing routes in accordance with our priority system. Given the forecasted snow accumulation, it is unlikely that a plow-out will be called.

You can expect further updates as the situation changes.Staff
