8th annual art on the street Exhibition & Sale ready to go, July 17, 2010

Now in its 8th year, art on the street is a juried showcase featuring the original fine art and craft of regional multi-disciplinary artists. The event has grown in both calibre of artist and scale since its inception in 2003 to become Guelph’s largest open-air art exhibition and sale.

70 artists’ tents, reminiscent of mini studios, will line both sides of Quebec Street on Saturday, July 17, from 10 am until 5 pm. The public will have the opportunity to meet painters, potters, blacksmiths, jewellers, glass-blowers, textile artists, and photographers – established artists as well as undiscovered talent sitting alongside each other – and take home a piece of Guelph’s creative culture.

art on the street is a free event which welcomes art lovers of all ages to Downtown Guelph. Sonic Playground and Guelph School of Art can be found in the Acts of Art children’s zone of St. George’s Square. Throughout the day, musicians will serenade artists and visiting crowds alike, and an eco-themed chalk mural will take shape around the family fountain.
