Community gardens for Guelph

I am emailing to show my support community gardens in Guelph.

Community gardens are outdoor spaces where neighbours meet to grow fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers and native plant species.

Why support community gardens in Guelph? Because community gardens:
• Provide local organic food and promote a healthy diet through access to fresh fruits and vegetables

• Feed communities inexpensively and sustainably
• Promote physical activity, improve health and provide stress relief
• Reduce carbon emissions, improve local air and water quality
• Build a sense of community ownership and pride
• Create beautiful neighbourhood spaces
• Provide outdoor classrooms for children to learn about growing food

I’m asking you to support the use of Guelph’s public spaces for community gardens and to make community gardens a priority in the 2010 City of Guelph Budget.  JT
