On Friday, July 4, the City of Guelph will kick off its free summer entertainment and activities program in Market Square with a showing of ‘Up’—Disney’s award-winning animated feature film.
The summer movie lineup, sponsored by Meridian Credit Union, also includes:
· Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark – Friday, July 18
· Ghostbusters – Friday, August 8
· Toy Story – Friday, August 22
· Monsters University – Friday, September 12
All movies begin at 9 p.m.
Market Mornings
This summer RBC is sponsoring Market Mornings on Saturdays—interactive, hands-on art projects for people of all ages. The fun begins at 10 a.m. and goes until noon. In July, artist Jenny Mitchell will facilitate a community sound/music project. In August, artist Ben McCarl will lead participants in creating a community sculpture made out of tiles.
World Cup Street Party
On Sunday, July 13, in conjunction with the Downtown Guelph Business Association, soccer fans are invited to a live viewing of the final World Cup soccer game in Market Square. The event kicks off at 3 p.m.
John Galt Day
This year’s celebrations are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 2. There will be family entertainment, splash play, crafts, games, food vendors, and the unveiling of Guelph’s Locomotive 6167.
Rock the Square
The summer program wraps up with Rock the Square on Friday, September 26. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. local rock bands will perform as part of Culture Days—a Canada-wide cultural celebration featuring thousands of free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate.
