Findlay proud of his record

The following article appeared in the June 29 edition of the Guelph Tribune:

Ward 2 incumbent candidate Ian Findlay, one of the councillors who Ray Ferraro is challenging, issued a news release to accompany his recent filing of nomination papers to seek re-election in Ward 2.
Findlay said that he has worked hard during his first term on council to bring transparency, accountability and accessibility to city hall, and that he has also tried to bring multiple points of view to the fore through his Ward 2 blog.

He is “particularly proud of the fact that the Ward 2 Blog has become the ‘go to’ place for community dialogue on a variety of topics, with over 200,000 views,” Findlay said in the release.

As well, working with members of the community has been a passion for Findlay, exemplified by his “timely action and leadership” with the redevelopment of the Guelph Youth Music Centre parking lot project, he said.

With the parking lot issue, which flared last summer, Findlay led the charge in getting major changes made to a parking lot design that was backed by city hall staff, which would have destroyed some mature, healthy trees nearby in Goldie Mill Park.
