Guelph City Council should be commended for a couple of recent developments in the effort to make Guelph a more livable city.
The first and currently most obvious, is the installation of bicycle carrier racks on city buses. This can’t help but to have a positive effect on ridership. Having the option to take your bike on the bus, especially this summer with it’s unsettled weather is a boon for all Guelphites, especially those of us that don’t own an automobile.
The second, and much more maligned decision, is the approval of funding for the pissoirs in the downtown core. While much has been made of ‘cleaning up the downtown’, this is an actual concrete effort to do just that, in a proactive fashion. Quite obviously, you don’t have to ‘clean up’ what isn’t ‘spilled’ in the first place.
