Guelph Transit's 40 minute decision

The following correspondence has been provided by Guelph Transit Services (GTS):

“GTS will proceed with our plans to move to a 40 minute frequency during peak periods however Mayor Farbridge has indicated this issue would be discussed at the September 12 meeting of the Emergency, Community and Operations Committee.

Our Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) equipment, installed earlier this year, has provided us (GTS) with data that shows our service is running more than five minutes late, 60 percent of the time, during the AM and PM rush period. Based on this information, it was decided that we (GTS) should not continue to tell our customers that we can deliver service at a 30 minute frequency when we know it is not possible. To increase service frequency during peak periods would require further planning and budget consideration.” GTS Staff
