The City of Guelph invites members of the public and professionals to attend the Guelph Urban Design Summit, taking place May 5-6 at the River Run Centre.
The two-day Summit begins with a Public Forum at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5. The forum is intended for the general public. At the forum, David Miller, President of World Wildlife Fund Canada and 63rd Mayor of Toronto, will discuss what is needed to deliver positive change and create great cities. Andrew Howard, co-founder of Build a Better Block, will discuss how to create inexpensive and high-impact urban design.
Guelph Mayor Karen Farbridge will also be in attendance, and will discuss her perspectives on building a great city. The Forum will be moderated by Ric Young, one of Canada’s leading thinkers in social change. Tickets for the Forum are $5 and can be purchased at the River Run Box Office.

This Forum supports this focus area by providing the public with an opportunity to learn how cities are designed to the benefit of all, and how Guelph is thoughtfully focusing on good urban design to positively shape future growth in the city.”

The Summit continues on Tuesday, May 6 with a full-day Professional Workshop for those engaged in urban design projects. The line-up features hands-on mobile workshops, networking opportunities, and leading urban design thinkers including Joe Minicozzi of Urban3, Helena Grdadolnik of Workshop Architecture Inc., and Tim Smith of Urban Strategies Inc., discussing urban design tools and strategies. Tickets for the Workshop are $139 and can be purchased at the River Run Box Office.
