Due to the urgency of this matter, a report is coming directly to Council on Monday January 25.
This is a quick email to advise that in response to the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti and a community driven request to organize a benefit concert at the River Run Centre (Feb 7th), a staff will be recommending that we a) waive the internal expenses to a maximum of $5,000 to allow all funds raised to be donated to the Canadian Red Cross and b) waive the capital reserve fund (1.50) charged on top of the ticket price.
The report also identifies that we currently don’t have criteria and guidelines to assist us in reviewing requests for emergency aid and so, the report also recommends that staff develop a decision making framework and bring it back to Council for consideration.
