Join Guelph solar community co-operative‏‏

Dear interested community member,
We are writing you to ask for your help bringing a solar co-operative to Guelph and Wellington County

For $5 you can help launch Guelph and Area’s first solar community co-op

A community solar co-op lets us pool our money to build large solar projects that can help the environment, the economy, and our local communities.

Your $5 annual membership fee makes you part of our first landmark projects – the rooftop of Barzotti Kitchens in Guelph, or in partnership with the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Wellington County, for solar projects that:

– reduce green house gas emissions.
– use the sun to generate electricity.
– produce energy where it’s used – as opposed to hundreds of kilometers away.
– provides you the opportunity to invest in this project at an initial and growing rate of return starting at 5%.
– makes money for you, other members, and for the Ignatius Jesuit Centre.
– is RRSP eligible
-produce solar electricity equivalent to the consumption needs of roughly 50 households every year.

Under the rules of the Provincial Feed In Tariff program (fit.powerauthority.on.ca), we require a minimum of 50 local property owners separately in Guelph and Wellington County (for a total of 100 combined from both areas) to join the co-op before January 18, 2013. By having these 50 initial members in each area, we can create the organization that will bring this dream to life.
Come to one of our sign up sessions:
Wed. January 9th and Thurs. 10th at Planet Bean 6-8PM (downtown and south end locations) and Sat. 12th at the Guelph Farmers’ Market.
On January 15th we will be at the Shepherd’s Pub in Elora at 8 Mill Street West 6pm-8pm. On the 16th we will be on hand to sign up memberships at the Erin Eco-Film fest at the Erin Legion.
Your $5 can go a long way towards our green energy future.
Join us and help bring community solar to Guelph/Wellington
If you are already a co-op member, and a landowner in Guelph or Wellington County, please come to one of our signup events, or contact us via email or our webform at http://www.guelphsolar.ca.
Please note: Your membership gives you the opportunity to invest in the project once we get a contract from the OPA (Ontario Power Authority) but does not obligate you to do so. This is a limited time offer as we will be resuming our standard $100 lifetime membership fee following the FIT eligibility window.    EF
