“The City of Brampton will pay close to $1 million to settle a lawsuit by a construction company that lost a major municipal contract despite being the lowest bidder.

In a close 6-5 vote, the majority of city councillors went against a staff recommendation in June to award the $25 million Queen Street East reconstruction project to Aecon Construction, the lowest bidder. Instead, politicians awarded the contract to the second-lowest bidder, Graham Brothers Construction, the only local company in the bidding process.”
