Notification of Filming – BBC America: Copper

copper

This is to inform you of a film shoot happening in, or close to, your ward on Friday May 3, 2013.

The production company Cineflix will be filming a scene for the TV series “Copper” at the Goldie Mill Park with set up beginning on May 2 and tear down on May 6.
Actual filming will commence on Friday, May 3, from 2:00 p.m. and finishing at 2:00 a.m. on May 4.

Impact on residents:
Goldie Mill Park
There will be increased lighting and activity at the Goldie Mill Park during the filming period. There may also be additional noise due to the running of a generator and production vehicles.
Parking will be blocked off on Cardigan St. on May 2, 3 and 6. Large production trucks will be leaving from this location on Saturday morning after 8:00 a.m.

Riverside Park
On May 3, beginning t 8:00 a.m. 50 crew vehicles and 5 production trucks will be parked by the baseball diamonds north of Marilyn Drive. Shuttle vans will be continuously going back and will mass exit at 2:00 a.m. May 4.

This is a very professional production company who are respectful of the property and have worked hard to minimize the impact to residents. Over 50 hours of foot work has been done to gather signatures from residents and ensure that they have done all they can to inform the neighbourhood of their intentions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just want to convey our sincere appreciation to all of you for your efforts to meet today. Late but fruitful. We found a solution that was satisfactory to both the City of Guelph and “Copper”. Our meeting was very constructive and hopefully, next time the lines of communication will be more open to all.
Thank you all for your understand of the film industry that always requires instant responses due to our time frame for a series, as I explained 8 days of prep. We thought going in ….with 21 days of prep (April 10/13) we were well ahead of the game plan.
Hopefully, with the establishment of a Film Policy…this lack of communication would be avoided in the future. So, in the end, it becomes a win/win for both. Guelph has so much to offer in terms of filming locations. We could meet with you and explain the benefits and procedures that are common in other Cities etc.
Again, would like to thank
I would be happy to follow up with staff to establish a film policy that is flexible to the realities of the industry. ian
