objection to the zoning change in south end

I am writing to express my serious objection to the zoning change of south end in order to build a religious facility in the well developed residential area.

First of all, it must be stated clearly that this is not about any kind of race discrimination; this is about objection to build religious facility and religious get-together activities around peoples’ houses. Since the builder of this facility tends to use racism as a weapon to fulfill their goal, I think you should stand firm to fight against both racism and those who use racism as a shield. People live in this area are from different races including Sikh and I don’t see any race discrimination.

Secondly, the residents in the area have right to say no to this zoning change. This is a well developed residential area, we paid price higher than most of the other areas of Guelph to live here and we are paying extra condominium fee regularly because we like what it is right now. We have no objection to any building over there now that it is for residential purpose. We simply don’t want religious get-together activities around our houses. If you have any doubt that the majority of the residents in this area are against this zoning change, I would suggest you do some survey.

At last, I would suspect that if the builder and your councilors simply ignore the objection voice of the majority of the residents of the area, you may really turn this into a serious conflict.

This writing represents my family and five other families living in this area and if you want to know their names and addresses, please let me know. HS
