Attached is an Open Letter to Guelph City Council, regarding the recent closure of the Medical Cannabis Club of Guelph Inc. (MCCG). I had attempted to be listed as a delegate to address City Council, but was told that the issue didn’t fall within City Council’s jurisdiction. Nonetheless, I think it is important for City Councillors to be aware of local issues, especially when they affect the health and well being of Guelph’s citizens. While medical cannabis legislation is a federal issue, enforcement is a local issue, shown by the continued operations of dispensaries similar to the MCCG in many cities in Canada including but not limited to Victoria, Vancouver, Halifax, and Toronto. The MCCG strongly believes that local leadership is needed on this issue.RK
