Spring Storm event March 23, 2011: Part Deux

Good afternoon everyone…..

Situation update;

Current forecast indicates this storm will end tonight at midnight. So far we have received 13 cm of accumulation and expect another 3 to 4 before it ends.

The following is a summary of our current activities and projection.

ROADS;

Roads crews are working on the main arterials (Salt Routes) and collector roads, (Secondary Salt Routes). A city wide residential plowout is being coordinated to begin tonight at midnight. The residential task will take approx 10 hours to complete.

SIDEWALKS, CITY OWNED STEPS AND BUS STOPS, including DOWNTOWN

Sidewalk crews continue their ongoing work in the mains and will continue until this evening at 8:00pm. The operation will resume with fresh staff at 3:00am on the mains and transition into the residential routes thereafter. The operation will then run until completion.

Downtown sidewalks and parking facility clearing is under way and will continue until 10:00pm (due to an event at the Riverr Run). Activities will resume tomorrow morning at 4:00am to have sidewalks in the downtown clear by the opening of business at 9:00am.

City owned step program continues

FACILITIES;

Crews mobilized in this area at 5:00am and are following normal process, progress.

Clearing of facility parking lots will resume at 4:00am tomorrow to allow them to be completed by 7:00am openings.Staff
