Spring Storm event March 23, 2011,

Good morning everyone;

Welcome to Spring!!….March is holding true to it’s “crazy” reputation!!

We are currently being hit with an Alberta Clipper which is expected to pass over us quickly but will leave cold temperatures in it’s wake for a few days.

Reports currently indicate this storm will end later this afternoon and may leave 10 to 12 cm of accumulation by the time it is all said and done.

The following is a summary of our activities currently engaged…..(all winter control activities are engaged).

ROADS;

Roads crews are working on the main arterials (Salt Routes) and collector roads, (Secondary Salt Routes). .

SIDEWALKS, CITY OWNED STEPS AND BUS STOPS, including DOWNTOWN

Sidewalk crews have mobilized and are currently working on the high pedestrian volume routes, “the mains”. As accumulation thresholds, (8cm) are reached and the mains are completed, the operation will transition into the residential sidewalks.
Downtown maintenance staff are working on clearing the downtown sidewalks before stores open at 9:00am.
City owned step program is underway

FACILITIES;

Crews mobilized in this area at 5:00am and are following normal process, progress.
