The City of Guelph and HGS Canada Inc. have announced the dates of an upcoming job fair where the contact centre company, HGS Canada will evaluate the local employment market. The event is part of the next site selection process for the global company who is looking at a potential 500 employee site in the area. The site would create hundreds of quality new jobs, which includes both frontline, business support and management level positions.
“We are thrilled that HGS Canada is considering Guelph for their new facility,” says Mayor Farbridge. “A successful job fair is critical in attracting these quality employment opportunities which are available to a wide range of skilled workers and I would encourage any interested parties in and outside of Guelph to apply.”
HGS Canada’s groundwork for this further expansion into Ontario began earlier this year when the company held talks with a number of potential locations. “We have been looking at a number of potential new locations, and the response we have received in the area so far has been very supportive,” said Ross Beattie, President & CEO – HGS Canada. “Our Team is looking to meet many skilled people to help us in our selection process. Expansion is nothing new for HGS Canada, who has opened three sites in Ontario in the past 2 years. 2010 saw the opening of Thunder Bay, which was followed by North Bay in early 2011, Belleville in the summer of 2012, and only a few weeks ago, the company announced a new site in the City of Barrie.
The Job Fair will be taking place at the new Hanlon Convention Centre, Woodlawn Rd West, on June the 7th & 8th from 10am to 7pm, both days. It is the perfect opportunity for individuals to find out more about the company and what makes HGS so different in the Call Centre space. Peter Cartwright, General Manager of Guelph Economic Development said, “We are encouraging all levels of qualified applicants including Customer Support Agents, Supervisors, Trainers, Recruiters, HR, IT support and site management to come to the job fair on June 7th and 8th to learn more about HGS Canada and meet with the Company’s representatives.” Cartwright also added, “Our target is to have over 2000 applicants submit resumes at this job fair over these two days.”
