the little robot at Necessary Arts Company: a Fourth Fridays event in downtown Guelph

4th-friday

Start your evening’s entertainment this Fourth Friday with traditional soul, spacey rock, electronica and hip hop as local music artist the little robot mixes sounds at Necessary Arts Company. Starting at 7pm on Friday June 28th, this will be an excellent warm up to the dance party scheduled later in the evening at Market Square.

Joseph Harrison is the the little robot and he will be blending obscure samples with analog and digital compositions. With the addition of drummer Greg Woods (Great Wooden Trio), further layers of sound and complexities will be added making for an exciting set. Sponsored by the Downtown Guelph Business Association (DGBA), the little robot first performed a Fourth Fridays event in the summer of 2012. His set in St George’s Square on a sultry summer night acted like a magnet to the folks of downtown who quickly filled up the square and enjoyed his laidback vibes.

Necessary Arts Company is a new arts studio in the basement of the Gummer Building, 5 Douglas Street. They offer a creative platform for collaboration with other artists, designers and makers. Co-owner Cynthia Waldow said “we think this is not just a great place for artists to feel inspired, it’s a great venue to relax and hear music. It’s also a great excuse to come and see the beautiful Gummer Building renovation”.

Celebrating the creative, neighbourly, interesting, and welcoming vibe of downtown Guelph, Fourth Friday events take place on the fourth Friday of every month, from 7.00pm – 10.00pm. The Downtown Guelph Business Association is one of many community members contributing to this monthly cultural crawl whereby visitors can experience spoken word, art installations, musical performances, and a variety of other happenings in the downtown core.
