A quick note to urge you to keep the buses running at current intervals-not the 40 minutes being discussed.
I agree with the local citizen who proposed 15 minute intervals during rush hour, and I believe that 40 minutes is a step backwards for transit useability. BS
I am one of the user of Guelph public transit since I moved to Guelph 4 years ago. I go around the city and go to work by bus. As you may aware that started in the beginning of September the bus schedule will be quite different when instead of 30 minutes periods it will be 40 minutes periods in the rush hour. For me and I believe also by many bus users, this change doesn’t make any sense. I read many comments in Guelph Tribune and most of them opposed and gave their arguments which make more sense rather then the ones from the management of Guelph transit.
One of the letter from a student argue that even now during the peak hour, the buses are packed with a lot of passengers and sometime have to pass the passenger on their way. They have to wait another 30 minutes. If this new policy will be implemented, they have to wait another 40 minutes. Also it’s harder to predict the time of bus arrival if it’s 40 minutes periods. With 30 minutes period we just simply wait for it close to the hour or the half hour. With 40 minutes period, we have to do the math which is not that simple I believe for most of the people to predict the next bus.
Please speak out for us against this new policy. If they could not add more bus, just simply keep the same 30 minutes period. I’d rather wait for couple minutes if they are late rather than complicated 40 minutes periods. The best solution is by adding more buses in the peak and rush hour so that the frequency can be shortened rather than stretch it to longer period. It doesn’t make any sense at all.
I believe you understand very well our concerns as the bus rider and please fight against this new policy before it will be implemented next month.
