At 9am on Friday, June 15, Change Now Youth Drop In and Resource centre was shut down. Without any explanation, the downtown shelter and drop in centre for homeless and at-risk youth closed its doors. The youth were told to pack their bags and the staff were told that their jobs had been terminated.
For more than 16 years, Change Now Youth Drop-In and Resource Centre has been supporting youth aged 13-24. Three years ago the organization opened a shelter with 20 beds. With more than 200 homeless youth in Guelph, the beds were absolutely necessary.
