City to form committee to explore transit

City staff will begin developing terms of reference for an ad-hoc subcommittee that will make recommendations about transit issues. The recommendation to do so came from the Emergency Services, Community Services & Operations (ECO) Committee at their September 12 meeting.

The subcommittee, to be composed of community members, City staff and Council, will identify challenges and make recommendations on community transit issues to Council. Residents and other community stakeholders can find application forms for the subcommittee on the City’s Web site at www.guelph.ca. Staff will present the terms of reference to Committee members at its October meeting.

Guelph Transit boasts the highest efficiency rating based on a cost per trip basis, and the second highest effectiveness rating (trips per capita) when compared to other Ontario cities with a population size of 50,000 – 150,000.
