Kathleen Farrelly campaign expenses

As you may know, Ward One City Councillor Kathleen Farrelly has been asked to pay Laura Baily’s legal costs. It was ruled that they are considered “Expenses relating to a recount” Excerpt from the Municipal Elections Act, 1996

Councillor Farrelly is required to pay $11,707.35 to the Estate of Laura Baily. Farrelly’s current bill to her own lawyer is higher than this amount again. All tolled, Farrelly may be paying a bill that is in excess of $26,000!

Farrelly must pay half by September 28 and the other half by October 5, 2007.

To help Farrelly with these costs, please forward a cheque to her as soon as possible. If you can’t make the first deadline and still want to contribute, then by all means please do so as soon as possible.

As these costs are legally considered election expenses, you can only contribute to a total of $750 including any monies you contributed to her campaign last year during the election.

Please make cheques payable to either ‘Kathleen Farrelly Campaign 2006’ or just to ‘Kathleen Farrelly’.
