Loose Leaf Collection and Preparations for Winter Control

Loose leaf collection will start on November 17th for Guelph residents. Residents are encouraged to recycle their leaves into their gardens and flowerbeds.  Residents with any remaining leaves after the scheduled pick up can bring them to the city’s Wet/Dry Plant in yard waste bags for disposal at no charge.

Also, winter is fast approaching so the road fleet is being converted in preparation and the salt and sand domes are being stocked. We have also begun proactively applying anti-icing liquids to the roads (bridge decks and low lying areas susceptible to black ice) when below freezing overnight temperatures are forecast.  This activity will increase in frequency and scope to cover all arterial and collector roads throughout the winter and will occur before a winter storm arrives.
