Pesticide Resolution

I am concerned about the new Pesticide Bylaw that will be discussed by Council March 25.
On the positive side, it looks like the new proposed bylaw will prohibit the use of herbicides for weeds; however there will still be thresholds for insects. I have a concern about including public lands in the insect thresholds. This is a major step backwards for the progress that has been made on public lands for our health and for the environment.
I would like to see public lands removed altogether from the bylaw and climatic controls adopted for private lands,i.e.: no insecticide use over certain wind speeds, temperatures or on smog advisory days.    GR

The pesticide threshold matter has been referred back to the ECO Committee for further consideration. This matter will not be discussed at the March 25 Council meeting.                        Ian
