Pesticide Spraying / railway line behind Dufferin/Cardigan

I just wanted to register my serious concern regarding the pesticide spraying that is going/has been going on adjacent to the railway line behind our house.I know that this is city land and that the new pesticide by-law should be enforced to prevent spraying in this area. The residents of this neighborhood have no desire to see spraying of toxic Round Up along the tracks. There is no need for it – especially now that winter is on the way. If you would please contact city and/or railway officials and have them cease spraying IMMEDIATELY we would be most relieved. We would be happy to manage the weeds ourselves if that is what it takes.

The senseless spraying of poison on city land that runs adjacent to my property must stop.                           JW

The GJR was conducting vegetation control as required by Transport Canada Operating and Safety Standards. We did place a add in the Tribune a few weeks ago explaining this as well as advising the public that this year we reduced our spraying by 50%.We further indicated that we will be looking at alternatives to pesticide spraying that would still allow us to meet Transport Canada Standards.            Staff
