A resident’s unedited opinion.
I am a retired senior and pay property tax to the City of Guelph, it seems that every year we receive a 3% tax increase and this needs to stop. I can’t even get a GIC over five years for 3% yet this City keeps collecting more dollars to waste. With an election just over a year from now my wife and I are looking for a Rob Ford style mayor to step forward, no more smooth talking, suit and tie politian. We want our politian’s to be for all the people not just the ones that have their hands out for their special interests so you can get their votes. We need change and make politian’s accountable so when they waste OUR money they are held accountable, no not just apogees they need to be held financially accountable. Don’t threaten us again this fall with sidewalk snow removal and 4% tax increase and make us happy with a 3% increase these are old tricks that have gotten stall, look for saving and stop the waste, make some hard decisions and stop worrying about getting re elected. I see buses at most time traveling throgh out the city empty or with just a few passengers, there are so many City of Guelph vehicles out there that one day I counted four at the corner of Victoria Rd and Cassino Rd. So in conclusion you now know that there are two voters for sure in the City of Guelph that do not want anymore tax increases, lets see if you speak for the people you represent. LH
