Trees

The recent attention that Guelph Urban Forest Friends has brought to the tree inventory in the City, and the likewise recent work on Dublin Street whereby many trees will likely die due to the damage to their roots by the road improvements made there, it is evident that we need to develop a better strategy for our trees. I respectfully request that the City adopt a Low Impact Development Strategy to save the diminishing canopy so necessary to the health of our citizens and the planet. Developers must be prevented from removing every living green thing on the properties where development is planned (ie. the recent Heritage Home on Victoria where not one tree or shrub was left standing resulting in a totally denuded landscape).
