Ward 4 concern about Nestle PTTW

As a resident of Guelph and caring steward of our watershed resources – I am opposed to this application.
It goes against the Ontario Water Resources Act, Places to Grow Act, riparian owners and inherent rights of the citizens within the watershed. What about source water protection?

How does it make sense to take our own groundwater and let Nestle bottle it for profit only to hurt the surrounding watershed and those within it?
Will we loose our own supply of water as a result?
Will it cost more to supply water because there will be less in the future because of this taking?

How will this taking impact the natural environment? the water resources and the ecosystem and land uses associated with that? Do they have to do an EIS?

Isn’t there a burden of proof in this process that Nestle must demonstrate that it will not impact the environment and if it does, how will it be mitigated?

As a concerned citizen, I am requesting a public meeting on this issue – with Nestle and MOE in attendance of course. The City of Guelph, its officers and staff, I am sure would like to take the opportunity to educate their citizens on this important issue.               JS
